Clarence Carter - Slip Away
I was asked today about my faourite Soul, R'n'B song....this one is up there....
Clarence Carter has such an impassioned voice and the incredible backstory to match. It’s hard to believe that this is the same cat that would go on to record “Strokin’.” Hm.

The Tragically Hip - Bobcaygeon
Just one of my favourite Canadian bands back then...the 90's wasn't it!
I lived in Bobcaygeon for a spell but that's now why I like....it's just got the feel right....that feeling of being struck deeply with love and the power of the universe...

It's one of his best simply done and well done simply....
Spencer Wiggins - Uptight Good Woman
Just one of my fave Southern Soul artists....and great tune here!
Susie (Dramas) - Elton John (Honky Chateau 4 of 10)
This was either the penultimate or might even have been the last album of Elton's I ever bought!
He and Mr Taupin could still deliver a finely crafted tune in those days....this is a fave and I happened to be going out with a gal of the same name around this time!

Jerry Lee Lewis - Another Place, Another Time
A rock’n’roll pioneer, a hellraiser and a self-confessed “f**k-up”, Jerry Lee Lewis was all these things. He was also (and still is) a phenomenal country singer
Michelle Shocked - Anchorage - michelleshocked.com
I had the great pleasure of seeing and interviewing |Ms. Shocked some time back...another very honest performer! This song always make me drift back to my days on the old gravel dirt road side of the county...

Dan Fogelberg ~ There's A Place In The World For A Gambler
A wise amigo, Roy Onami, once said to this very floundering you man -- "Your wisdom in life will be the sum total of all that you learn and all that you come to know from the hearts of the women in your life" He was right...Blessings to Dan wherever you are out there in the cosmos of souls....I saw him in concert and the whole audience stood to sing this!

The Three Chefs - Breakfast In Rhythm
i had a coach who once called me a "ham and egger".....not that I understood what his drift was on this..but whenever I get a hankerin' for a good breakfast I remember Coach Hutch...and his wizened proflile...the man was hard as a tack and twice as sharp.....i'm off to my local caff which rather ironically is called the Three Chefs...there's the tie in folks...
INXS - Never Tear Us Apart
This song haunted me today as I drifted from a odd kind of grief to smiling and holding memories close...like a cup of warm coffee on a cold morning. This song was a favorite of one of my ex's....she passed away from cancer rather suddenly this past weekend. No one knew and that's the way she wanted it. So I got out the old photos and played some of her songs. Blessings to you Ki !

Animals - Club A Go-Go [Very Good(+) quality]
Many Happy Returns, Mr Eric Burdon!
Eric Burdon is one of those gritty Rock'n'Roll survivors....and he knew a good band when he saw or should I saw heard them. From the early days with with Chas Chandler and one of my favorite musicians, Allan Price then with a Mick Gallagher doing a stint on the boards to the one of the final incarnations that was tuned into the hip San Fran psychedelic era as Eric Burdon & The Animals! Oh don't forget that brief trip with War!
Minor Swing - Django Reinhardt & Stéphane Grappelli
Django doth sooth my ravaged soul.....hope this little clip of sound (mostly)does the same for all thee¬

Joe Cocker, Mad Dogs and Englishmen - Bird On A Wire HD
There is just something so heart wrenching in Joe's cover of St. Leo's tune that makes this cover almost better than the original!
And then add the fact that I lived this time...oh yes I sure did..got the memory lapses to prove it...grins!

Sam Cooke - Blowing in the Wind (HQ)
It's "We've Got This Covered" over at the Flimwell Papers Music Corner and this cover by the master of the smooth Soul Sam Cooke turns in a very different and at times almost "show biz singin' Vegas Style" version of this classic. Pyrotechnics but so smooth you almost miss them.....cheers now...

Bob Seger - Turn the Page
One of my favourite concerts was back in the days I lived near Windsor and we crossed the river to
this man's show....it remains still one of the best Rock'n'Roll nights I've ever been witness to!
Leonard Cohen: The Stranger Song
What a killing, chilling opening stanza
"It's true that all the men you knew were dealers
who said they were through with dealing
Every time you gave them shelter.."
...Saint Leo --- vintage Leonard Cohen!
Helps me see the world through the appropriate colour of glasses!

LE LAC MAJEUR MORT SHUMAN
Even if your knowledge of French is limited, rather like mine, this is a mighty fine song. It is one that conjures up images of being on the shores of Le Lac Majeur or as my Swiss Darlin' Nicci knows it Lago Maggiore!

Willie Nelson and Shelby Lynne, Angel flying too close
Oh how much I love this song, how I've wished that Shelby Lynne would get more recognition, I think Willie Nelson is a National Treasure....and folks forget what a flat out good picker he is.....so here in this one song are all my reasons why I love this form of music and why live music is just the greatest!
