John Hiatt - Drive South

Just one of my favourite road songs.....and I south...from frozen late winter snowed in Toronto to the Redneck Riviera....through the Smokey Mountains and down the Carolina Shore...loved it...and did it in 22 hours!

Wow...this looks interesting viewing! It took me awhile to realize that was Luke Skywalker....might be the making of a late career comeback for him~!

The Big Country - composer Jerome Moross

Just one of THE greatest cinematic openings and soundtrack openings of all times! I put it up there against the Star Wars tunes....and I'm a fan of those too! I remember seeing this on a huge screen in the lovely little Art Deco theatre The Capitol. It was moving for a young fella of 10 and sometimes makes me, now, feel like an ol'Geezer but I love this style...the grand opening the larger than life way that American cinema was in 50's! So it today a movie opening that gets me all

Bruce Springsteen - Backstreets

My life was in tatters , the carrion carcass of my life left after lawyers and mind readers dealt a blow to my life, the joys of being a father ripped away by my own blindness but I kissed my 1 year old son good night, tucked him in and said I would love him forever no matter where I was and no matter where he was --- back streets or super highways...I'm always your Dad and you're always my son. It took another life time for us to find each other again as grown men and know how important love is to us.

I went to this concert in Toronto just after leaving our home for the last time.

Bruce Springsteen - Bobby Jean

RIP Clarence Clemmons!
There is an element of just being there making this song special to me. I saw this tour live, I heard , saw and felt it all.....and just the Big Man's being there with the Boss was enough....there wasn't much he need to do but put the finish on the a great song! And that's the story of a great musician!

Bruce Springsteen - Cindy (with Clarence Clemons)

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

RIP Big Man

Muddy Waters - I Can't Be Satisfied

Just an amazing bit of Blues History now...I saw him so many times and never thought I was listening to a legend who would go on with me for years!

Gil Scott-Heron - 'Me And The Devil' (Official HD Video)

Still mourning the loss of this giant of a figure in American music and life....
He did not go gently into that good night but railed against the lack of imagination and honesty in all...

Stevie Wonder- Sir Duke (Video)

This is my iPod tune of the day! I get up, get going and when I've got the space I settle down for the commute and hit shuffle on me trusty iPoddy thing....the first tune is my Tune of The Day! And t'is the one for today...cheers...Stevie pure genius

John Lennon - stand by me ( official video )

Yes it's a cover of an almost perfect song but not only does John pay homage but because it's "flawed" and his voice is a bit ragged in some spots -- well that's why I love it....

To all you have stood by me, and made me proud and whole again in my life....I love you all the
head of that long list is the precious love of my darlin' Nicci!

Sandi Thom - "Merchants and Thieves" Album Preview

Just one of the best songs ever in my life, and beautifully interpreted here by Ms. Lang!

Things I used to do are living after all the good you can do in this world....ahh just a wonderful little bit of music that I first heard years ago while picking apples on my Granddad's farm and there were several workers from Jamaica and they hepped me to early Ska. Another tune that makes me smile all the while.....cheers again

jean knight - Why I Keep Living These Memor - Mr Big Stuff B

Goofy add at the opening and a rather "squashed" sound reproduction but this is my Southern Soul pick of the day!

Wednesday, 1 June 2011

Well, this was my iPoddy offering of the Day...the little shuffle prog sent it my way twice in 24 hours so it had to be this tune. I always like Joe South's turn at being the Blue Eyed Soul guy of the day.....
